Battle of the Bulge

The Battle of the Bulge was fought in the Ardennes, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany between 16th December 1944 to 25th January 1945. It was a German offensive to hit back at the Allies as they advanced from Normandy. The plan was to split the Allied forces in half, capturing Antwerp, Belgium in the process. The Germans would then proceed to encircle and destroy the Allies forcing them to negotiate a peace treaty. However, the German objectives were not achieved and the defeat left many German units severely short of experienced men and equipment.
